It was late November 2012 when founders of SMXChat, Ehsan and Mark started planning for a weekly chat that could bring all subject matter experts from around the world under one roof to:
- exchange knowledge and experience
- share insights
- learn from each other
First SMXChat took place on Tuesday 19 March 2013 with three people; but today people from Canada, USA, UK, India, Lebanon, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic and South Africa participate in the chat. Senior employees from IBM, Adobe, Salesforce and Melwater; just to name few are regular contributors to the community. CEO of Socialbakers even tweeted about SMXChat:
Such organic growth encouraged the two founders to think about how else they can contribute to their community; where the of idea setting up a regular show was born. They were however well aware of the fact that the chat itself is still growing and the community members are passionately recommending new topics for the weeks to come. Even one of the community members, Stephen Paddy Dyson, voluntarily designed a logo for SMXChat; he also kindly created the logo for SMXShow.
As they say it in Danish, alt kan ske; which means ‘everything can happen’. Both Ehsan and Mark truly believe that they can make everything happen through building a collaborative community. Ehsan said “SMXShow is a digital TV bringing social business stories from around the world in collaboration with the community”.
Ehsan is very well-known in the world of social media and has given many interviews and have written many articles about about social media used by leading universities as academic reference. Below is an interview that the founder of SMXShow gave to University of Westminster in the UK back in 2012:
